ServeArthan is an initiative by the students of the two year full time MBA - Services
Management programme, NMIMS University, Mumbai. The name ‘ServeArthan’, is a fusion
of ‘Serve’ which has its root in the word ‘Service’ and ‘Arthan’ which is the Sanskrit
word for ‘economic development’. It is a forum to share and exchange knowledge between
business fraternity, academicians and the budding future managers through a magazine
and networking. The magazine is a compilation of articles shared by industry stalwarts
for both the student as well as the business community. Thus, it enables Service
Management students and academicians from various fields to gain from their contributions.
Achieving competitive advantage in services requires the integration of service quality
with service delivery to meet or exceed customer requirements, today and in the future.
The complexity and diversity of services has increased dramatically over the past
century. To essentially bring out the contemporary aspects of different industries
and the interplay of the various stakeholders in the services eco-system, ServeArthan
as a concept was conceived. The inaugural issue of the magazine “ServeArthan” (Oct
2008) encompassed varied industry trends, challenges and the future scenario. In
a nutshell, it embraced the essence of risk assurance services, training in the IT
industry, problem solving, quality management, capital advisory, hospitality and
real estate scenario.
The second issue titled “Global Turmoil- The Way Ahead” (2009) dealt with the impact
of the economic meltdown and the effective dealing of this crisis. A synopsis of
speeches rendered by key note speakers at “ServeArthan Annual Corporate Symposium”
in Oct 2008 formed a part of the second issue.
As we are stepping into a time when the market performance is heralding a positive
growth trajectory slowly and steadily, the 3rd issue (to be rolled out in September
2009) will canvass the economic convalescence which will culminate in myriad opportunities
for the future of business management.
